Office Changes In Response to COVID-19
Your safety and the safety of all our clients and staff is top priority. We are asking that if you (1) have experienced flu-like symptoms including recent cough/respiratory problems (2) had a fever and (3) been out of the country or anywhere with a travel advisory in the last 21 days, do not come into the office until you are cleared by your medical provider. We are providing telehealth counseling (confidential online counseling) to clients whose insurance covers services and private pay clients. Please check with your insurance company for coverage. Lastly, please take all necessary precautions to stay healthy.
She is also the 2013 recipient of Licensed Professional Counselor Of The Year for the state of North Carolina.
She is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (www.aacc.net) and the Licensed Professional Counselor Association of North Carolina (www.lpanc.org).
Wanda earned a Master’s of Art (MA) in Agency Counseling with additional courses in School Counseling from North Carolina Central University in 1994.
She received the status of Licensed Professional Counselor in October of 2007 and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in December 2013. She has worked as a trained counselor since 1996.
After working in public mental health for 15 years, and simultaneously working full-time as a Church Administrator for 10 years, Wanda established Sozo Life And Wellness Center in December 2011 after prayerful consideration on how she could best use her license to facilitate emotional healing in the lives of others.
The practice takes a holistic approach to emotional wellness. The primary therapeutic modalities are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. We use appropriate psychological methods used within the field of mental health professionals, and add the insights of the Word of God to help people deal with the issues of life.
In addition to the required continuing education courses regularly engaged in to maintain licensure, Wanda participates in a therapist consultation group that focuses on the integration of spirituality and mental health on a monthly basis for continual training on providing effective biblical counseling. Wanda is a generalist practitioner with treatment focus in the areas of managing depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, grief and loss. When there is a situation where the client will require a specialist in a specific area, all efforts will be made to refer to a more appropriate provider.
